OBERMERYER HELIKA, as the main designer, was at the very beginning of building the largest, most modern and eco-friendly logistics centre for a German food chain supplier near Sereď. The total area of the logistics centre is 128,000 square metres, and the useful area of the building itself is 51,000 square metres.
Our engineers designed the realisable version of the concept required by the German investor as a 3D model using REVIT software in accordance with Slovak standards.
Based on the inventory and size of the logistics warehouse, when designing the building, we put extra emphasis on refrigeration management so that it meets the highest standards. This technology played a very important role in improving the energy efficiency of the building by recovering the waste heat. Using a sophisticated measurement and control system, the investor is now able to access current consumption data online and to optimise the energy efficiency of the building.
These innovations have also helped us meet the strict requirements for the logistics centre based on the international BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) classification, and earn the Outstanding level certificate as the very first building in Slovakia and the 14th in the world.
The whole project documentation was created in the 3D model, which is the most up-to-date engineering design method used at present. Although it was extremely difficult to coordinate all the professional parts of the project documentation for such a large construction, we avoided various potential collisions using the 3D model in the REVIT software.
