The aim of the Hermitage project was to revitalise the town block situated in the historic area of Prague 2 – Výtoň. The former industrial complex of printing-houses was first built at the end of 19th century and completed in the 1930s. The client’s brief was to turn the former industrial complex into a residential complex, i.e. a residential building and a hotel. The oldest part of the complex was therefore transformed into a three-star hotel with an underground car park and building service areas, while the later section was turned into a residential building. The town block that was an eyesore for many years has now come to life, and is again an organic part of this historic district of Prague. During the design and implementation stages, our designers and specialists worked closely with the state heritage authorities to ensure that the authentic character of the historic industrial architecture remained unchanged. As a result, our work helped to restore the attractiveness of the former Podskalí District and to remain a valuable part of the capital city’s centre.
